Injured in an Underride Accent?
Call a San Antonio Truck Accident Lawyer
Texas is a hubbub for truck drivers to come and find employment. This is
no surprise, either. It is one of the largest states in terms of land
mass, home to many of the nation’s largest corporate headquarters,
and over a dozen interstate highways crossing through the state. Truck
drivers are commonplace, and share the road everyday with other drivers.
There is some added risk for both truck drivers and regular passenger
vehicles, including collisions involving underride or override accidents.
If you were involved in an underride accident,
consult with our experienced and knowledgeable team at Tom Rhodes Law Firm P.C.! You may be entitled to compensation for your injuries.
What is an underride accident?
An underride typically means a collision between a larger vehicle, such
as a semi-truck or an 18-wheeler, and a smaller vehicle. The smaller vehicle
then becomes jammed underneath the truck. This type of accident is not
only one of the most dangerous for all drivers involved, the aftermath
can be devastating and potentially even lethal for all involved. The ones
who are affected most, however, is almost always the driver in the smaller car.
Underride accidents can result in the following injuries:
- Traumatic brain injury
- Spinal cord injury
- Limb loss
- Wrongful death
When you retain our services, our San Antonio truck accident attorneys
must determine how the other side was negligent and why those actions
led to your injuries.
Trucks must have underride guards on their trucks. If that guard is either
missing, broken, or defective, you can make a case against the trucking
company for improperly maintaining the vehicle. Another common reason
is that the reflective tape on the truck, is either dirty, peeled off,
or concealed. This tape is applied to allow other drivers better visibility,
especially at night. Headlights reflect off of the tape, which is supposed
to catch drivers’ eyes. When this is not well maintained, cars may
have difficulty seeing the large trucks, and can potentially lead to an accident.
