Tom Rhodes Law Firm Settles a Medical Malpractice Verdict for a Confidential Amount
February 26, 2015
Tom Rhodes Law Firm, LLC represented a client in a case against Christus
St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico for suffering
from bed sores.
While under the hospital’s care, Plaintiff began experiencing malnourishment
and “pressure wounds” which one of his legal representatives,
argued was the result of negligence and refusal to follow the proper health
care protocols necessary for screening and preventing bed sores. Plaintiff
was promised special boots and a mattress to relieve the bed sores, but
none of these items were supplied to him.
The case was settled for a confidential amount.

On January 7, 2012, in the 224th District Court of Bexar County, Texas,
Judge Cathleen Stryker presiding, a default judgment was entered for substantial
verdict against Louis White, a former Catholic priest. The lawsuit was
filed by John Doe 101, who was repeatedly sexually assaulted as a child
from 1976 to 1977 while a student, altar server and parishioner at Sacred
Heart Church and School in Floresville, Texas. Tom Rhodes Law Firm, along
with Merritt & Watson of Dallas and Brendan McBride of San Antonio
represented the plaintiff. To protect the privacy of the victim, the Plaintiff
requested the settlement amount be confidential.

Tom Rhodes Law Firm represented the family of a Nueces County man who died
as a result of a defective surgical device. The case settled for a gross
amount of $800,000*. The Law Offices of Thomas J. Henry was co-counsel
on the case.
*A contingent (%) fee charged on the successful recovery resulted in a
fee of $320,000 and $130,490.37 in litigation expenses which were reimbursed
by the client out of the gross settlement amount.
