What does it mean to be selected for the Inner Circle of Advocates?

For decades, this organization has sought to bring together the best plaintiff trial attorneys in the entire nation, enabling these ground-breaking figures to collaborate on ways to better achieve justice in court. To be a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, a lawyer must be recognized for significant experience and knowledge, as well as for successful advocacy in trial. This includes achieving 7-figure verdicts. Membership is gained through invitation, an invitation that is extended to only the top 100 plaintiff trial lawyers in the United States.

What does it mean to be included in Super Lawyers®?

Super Lawyers® is an objective, third-party organization that evaluates lawyers through a patented selection process. It begins with carefully screened peer nominations and thorough investigation of a lawyer’s achievements and accolades. A lawyer’s community service and pro bono work are also assessed, along with an attorney’s experience, published writing, and other factors. In the end, the bar for skill and dedication is set so high that only 5% of attorneys make the cut. When an attorney is selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers®, this means that the lawyer is being recognized as one of the top attorney’s in the state, by one of the nation’s premier lawyer rating services.

What does it mean to be named a Best Lawyers® Lawyer of the Year?

It means that peers have regarded an attorney as the foremost legal professional in the community when it comes to legal skill and ethics. The distinguished Best Lawyers® publication utilizes its own carefully crafted peer-review system to ensure that results are objective and accurate. Unlike some other peer review systems, lawyers are prohibited from paying in order to receive a ranking. To be listed in this publication is a significant honor, and Attorney Tom Rhodes has been listed in Best Lawyers every year since 2001; to be named "Lawyer of the Year" is an even greater feat because it reflects an overwhelming amount of endorsements from other attorneys. This accolade goes out to only one lawyer per practice area in a given metropolitan area.

Why We've Been Recognized by Best Lawyers®

What does it mean to be ranked in “Best Law Firms” by U.S. News?

To be considered for this honor, a firm must first have an attorney on staff who is included in Best Lawyers®, which is already a tall order. To then be listed in "Best Law Firms" is to be ranked among the top law firms in a given metropolitan area for that firm's type of legal practice. This ranking is based primarily on a high volume of strong peer reviews. In these peer reviews, attorneys are surveyed about the firm's approachability, knowledge, ethics, and more. Peers are also asked whether or not they would refer clients to the firm. In order to receive this ranking, not only does at least one attorney have to be highly distinguished, but the entire firm has to be marked by superior skill and care for clients.

What Makes Our Firm Ranked by U.S. News

What does it mean to be a Board Certified specialist?

Less than 10% of all attorneys in the state are certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS). In order to become a specialist, lawyers must fulfill a minimum of five years in practice. Then they must finish approved training, provide at least 10 quality references, and prove that they have a significant amount of experience. An attorney must also pass a thorough, rigorous exam that takes up an entire day. Qualifying doesn't end there, however. Once certified, specialists must maintain their standing through continual practice in their specialty, favorable peer reviews, and completion of yearly training with the TBLS. To be a Board Certified specialist is to be constantly at the cutting edge of one's legal practice.
